Evan Bischoff (.418 SLG%, 5 HR) There were plenty of games to pick from to highlight in this week’s marquee matchup, but the most intriguing of them all goes to the Westside Warriors against the Whiteford Wicked Aces. Whiteford looks to reclaim first place as the Warriors look to weather the storm with their star player Evan Bortmas not in the line up.
Home sweet home, the Aces have nothing but home games from here on out as we progress on in this 2014 season. We all know that the Aces can pitch, but the big issue for them as of late has been the inability to hit, and the loss of Joel Crozier for the remainder of the year doesn’t help their cause. Look for the Bischoff bros to pick up the slack against the Warriors as the Aces search for answers at the plate. Coming down the home stretch of the season, the Aces need to at the very least split against the Warriors this week so they don’t fall too far behind from first place in the standings.
The Warriors look to travel to the deep south without their all-star Evan Bortmas and maintain the slim lead they hold on the Ringler division. Not so fast though, Shore has a secret weapon that he’s bringing along with him for this pivotal two game series: Jeremy Ratajczyk, the commissioner of Griffle Ball, and word on the street is that he swings a hot stick. Maybe he will shoulder some of the load with Bortmas not in attendance. A split here is much needed at the very least for the Warriors as well, so they can maintain their first place status in Ringler.
This match up has potential playoff implications. Look for low scoring, very competitive games with this series. If you don’t have anything going on this weekend, go down to Whiteford and check out some high quality wiffle action.
