Kiefer Haffey (2.71 ERA, 1.57 WHIP)
Trey Jardine (1.12 ERA, 1.19 WHIP)
Nick Hool (.314 OBP, 10 RBI)
Nate Motta (23 RBI, 36 BB)
Evan Bischoff (0.79 WHIP, 1.01 BB/6)
RJ Fisher (0.64 ERA, 15.57 K/6)
Justin Hughes (.292 OBP, 10 RBI)
Justin Hughes (.780 OPS, 11 RBI) This week is chocked full of matchups that could potentially determine the five playoff teams and the five that will be playing golf. This Marquee is no exception. It features the Onanism cumming down to Poolside Park to face the Wicked Aces of Whiteford; both teams hungry and looking toward August.
The Onanism currently find themselves on the outside looking in. If the season ended today, the Onanism would land in 7th place. However, they are merely one game behind both the Warriors and King Friday and two games behind those F’ing Squirrels. With four games remaining against the Warriors combined with King Friday’s and the Squirrels difficult remaining schedules, the Onanism are by no means out of the running for the playoffs but still have some jerking to do.
The Aces are in a slightly different scenario as the Onanism. Oakland County is sitting at the bottom of the playoff clump, while the Aces appear to be emerging at the top. They sit firmly atop the Ringler Division and the minimum of the #2 seed that comes with it. Even with a 1-3 weekend against the Squirrels and Onanism, they still would be able to stumble their way to the pennant. However, a sweep of the Onanism and Squeakers would put them in the driver seat for home field throughout the playoffs.
Throughout this series, the Onanism will likely have to rely on their pitching to win. Assuming both are present, they have a formidable 1-2 combo with Trey Jardine and Keifer Haffey. The Onanism rotation is good enough for third in the league in ERA and fourth in WHIP. Even one run from the lowly hitting that is ranked ninth in AVG may be enough to steal one or two. The Aces may be rolling without (insert any award)-winner Austin Bischoff for this matchup, and may have to rely on the arms of Little E and RJ Fisher to shoulder the load. Without Big Bischoff and Crozier, the Aces may also have their own issues at the dish. No other player on the squad has a batting average above .230. Hopefully these games aren’t too long, but both have the potential to be marathon-like pitchers' duels.
Two teams looking to find their way in the playoff maze. The Onanism will be looking to burst their way into the playoffs. The Aces looking to lock down the Poolside for the playoffs. This matchup should be a “pleasure” to watch and should help solve the playoff puzzle.
